It was on November 17, 1949 that three visionary entrepreneurs, Henry Kaufmann, Adolfo Weisshaar and Heinz Petzold, and just in the aftermath of the 2. World War, founded CENTRO QUIMICO, S.A. – “CENCO”. The original mission was to represent Venezuelan and foreign companies and to distribute their products to the chemical, pharmaceutical, veterinary, agricultural, food and flavour and perfume industries.

On the other hand, on July 19, 1960, Dr. Juan B. Zotti, who had been active in the chemical industry in Venezuela for some years since arriving from Italy, founded J. B. Zotti & Cia,, C.A. The original mission of the company was to produce, import and distribute chemicals, textile auxiliaries, synthetic fibers and machinery to the local industry.

CENCO ZOTTI, S.A. was emerged as the result of a merger of equals in 1969 between Centro Químico, S.A. "CENCO" and J. B. Zotti & Cia, C.A. The two companies saw the economies of scale that could be achieved by joining forces.

CENCO ZOTTI, S.A. has been dedicated ever since its inception to the distribution of chemicals of all kinds to all segments of industry. Also, in the seventies, the company entered into the production of chemicals for the textile, leather, cosmetic and disinfectant industries.

Over the years, CENCO-ZOTTI, S.A. has turned its different Sales Departments into companies of their own. This was done for two reasons: first of all, to create the possibility of giving partnership to loyal and competent employees and, secondly, to strengthen the market presence through specialized companies, each one dedicated to specific segments of industry. At this point, CENCO ZOTTI, S.A. is no longer involved in any commercial activity but acts as a holding company, giving services such as: accounting, financial, warehousing, systems support, order handling, human resources and freight services to our affiliates.

The distribution of chemicals is being handled by the following affiliates, which are structured to cover the whole spectrum of chemical consuming industries in Venezuela:

CENCO-ZOTTI ALIMENTICIA, S.A.: In charge of the food and related industries.

CENCO-ZOTTI ANILINAS, S.A.: In charge of textile and leather industries.
 
CENCO-ZOTTI FARMACEUTICA, S.A.: In charge of pharmaceutical, veterinary and cosmetic industries.

CENCO-ZOTTI PLASTICA, S.A.: In charge of the plastic and rubber processing industries.

CENCO ZOTTI QUIMICA, S.A.: In charge of the adhesives, construction, industrial and institutional maintenance, petrochemical and coating and resins industries in general.

TANATEX DE VENEZUELA, S.A.: A manufacturing facility of auxiliary chemicals for the textile, leather, cosmetic and disinfectant industries.

Our Business Managers run their respective companies with a great amount of their own initiative and responsibility.
